Child abuse has gone to a significantly high level in the Maldives. The government of Maldives does not seem to be very concerned about this trend as they are acting very “normal” to the situation and even trying to hide things from public eyes.
Child abuse is a well known but less spoken topic in the Maldivian community. This is because, we have been taught not to talk about matters like sex, abuse, politics, etc… from childhood onwards. Inorder to fight against child abuse, we need to change this trend of being silent. Instead, we need to talk about it and teach our children about it. We need to open up the cases about it and make people fear to commit such crimes rather than make the victims fear about it.
I call all the Maldivian bloggers in special and all the Maldivians in general, to stand up and fight against child about. Talk about it and spread the facts and news. May god help us in the fight against child abuse.
